You have two options for declaring lost baggage:
You can choose any option at your convenience and if you want compensation for lost or damaged goods, it is more effective to respond as soon as possible.
You can file a complaint against your lost baggage online within 48 hours of the arrival of your flight, either through the site or the Air France app by filling out an Air France lost Luggage claim form. You will be given a receipt to track the Baggage in Air France claim status.
Important note – Some airports do not allow you to claim lost luggage online.
If your luggage is lost or has not yet arrived at your destination airport, the best option is to contact the Air France baggage customer service and file a complaint.
Before you leave the airport, you’ll need to fill out a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Once you finish the declaration process, you’ll be given a file number. You can use this number to track the progress of your lost luggage search online.
As per the Montreal Convention, if your baggage is lost by Air France, you are entitled to receive compensation of up to € 1,295.
If you’re wondering where your lost luggage is, you can track it in real-time using the online baggage tracker. All you need is the claim number that was given to you when you reported the lost baggage, either online or at the airport.
Note that, the airline is not responsible for any minor damage that may occur to your luggage during transport, including stretching, marks, or other damage.
If you are at the airport and your baggage is damaged, you can report it to the Air France baggage office at your arrival airport. They will set up a baggage irregularity report, provide you with the information you need to repair the damage, and give you a claim number. Remember, keep your claim number handy so you can track the progress of your request.
You have seven days from the day you receive your item that you can submit a request for compensation for any damages. You can also fill out the request form online or contact customer service in your country.
In order to get a professional estimate for baggage repair or a statement from the repair company indicating that the baggage is beyond repair, you will need to present your boarding pass or ticket, as well as your baggage tag(s).
Important Note: You will need written authorization from Air France before proceeding with any exchanges or repairs. Fees incurred without this authorization will be at your expense. Keep all original documents handy, as you may be asked to submit them.

If your luggage is lost or damaged, you will need to complete a Report on Property Irregularities (PIR) at the transit area’s “Baggage Claim” or “Lost Baggage” office. Without a PIR, airports will not accept responsibility for the lost luggage. If the luggage is not found within 21 days of the PIR being filed at the destination airport, Air France will be held liable for the loss. However, if another passenger mistakenly identifies your luggage as their own, Air France cannot be held responsible for any resulting costs.
According to the Montreal Convention, there are time limits for filing claims for lost or damaged baggage.
For any questions or concerns regarding your lost baggage, you may contact Luggage Service or Customer Support. The time elapsed since you submitted the declaration will determine which department you need to approach.

On July 14 i traveled from SXM to France and on to Amsterdam. When i got off in France i realized that my wife phone was left on the plane. In my flight from Israel to Chile, via Paris, by Air France, my suitcase was delayed 6 days. my flight left Tel Aviv (Israel) in July 3 arrived to Santiago on July 4.
