While India, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand secured automatic berths, the remaining two spots were determined through the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. Full members Sri Lanka and the Netherlands emerged victorious in this nail-biting qualifier competition, sealing their place in the Cricket World Cup 2023 alongside the top-ranked teams. Let’s take a look at the list of the ten teams that will grace this grand tournament:
History is in the making as India takes centre stage to host the ICC 2023 World Cup Cricket all by itself. This marks the first time in the tournament’s history that India has been chosen as the exclusive host, adding a new chapter to its rich cricketing legacy. India has co-hosted previous editions of the World Cup, such as in 1987 with Pakistan, in 1996 with West Pakistan and Ceylon, and in 2011 with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. This time India is all set to showcase its passion, hospitality, and love for the game!
The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup will see 10 powerhouse teams battling it out. The format follows a structure similar to the 1992 and 2019 World Cup tournaments.
In the round-robin stage, each team will face off against all the others in a randomly selected order. After the round-robin battles, four top-performing teams will secure their spots in the semi-finals. From there, the two winners of the semi-finals will lock horns in the epic final showdown, vying for the prestigious championship title.
According to various media reports, BCCI has requested all its State Board Associations to finalize ticket prices for their matches and submit them by July 31. Ticket bookings are expected to begin on August 10. Cricket fans can soon pre-book match tickets for ICC World Cup 2023 on the official website. Limited offline sales are anticipated to ensure a smooth experience at venues. Expect ticket prices to be ranging from INR 500 to INR 10,000 per ticket, depending on the match and venue.
