News Highlights

Air India introduces new flights on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route. With this, the total number of flights running between Mumbai and Bengaluru has increased to four. The airline had announced 24 new domestic flights which have been started on August 20, 2022, and the new BOM-BLR flights are part of it.

Most of these additional flights will be deployed on the routes of metro cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Chennai, among others.

Official Statement 

Air India shared the following statement in a Twitter Post – 

“Be ready for more flying options between Mumbai and Bengaluru as we introduce a new flight between these cities effective 20th August. There is now a total of 4 flights to choose from. Now enjoy more comfort, more choice, and more convenience.”

Additional 24 Flights Launched By Air India

Air India added two new frequencies on the route from Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad as well as from Mumbai to Chennai and Hyderabad. Additionally, one new frequency has been added on the routes from Mumbai to Bengaluru and from Ahmedabad to Pune. 

Air India in a statement announced

“The additional 24 flights include two new frequencies from Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, and Mumbai to Chennai and Hyderabad, as well as one new frequency on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route and Ahmedabad-Pune route.”

All The Aircraft Of Air India Will Start By 2023

There are 70 aircraft in the narrow-body fleet of Air India, 54 of which are operational currently. The remaining 16 aircraft will also start service again by the beginning of 2023. 

Campbell Wilson, MD and CEO of Air India said – 

“This expansion bolsters connectivity between key metros and improves connectivity between Air India’s domestic and international networks. Over the past six months, Air India has been working closely with our partners to return aircraft to service, and we are delighted that this effort is now bearing fruit.”

According to the sources, the airline is also planning to buy more than 200 new planes with 70 percent of them being narrow-bodied aircraft.
