With the second strain of coronavirus taking root in almost every country, international flights to India from different countries are facing their share of travel restrictions. In an attempt to keep the audience updated, MyTicketsToIndia thought of getting down to the nitty-gritty of the current impact on India International flights due to this outbreak.

Are International Flights Canceled From India By USA?

No. 

USA has only issued an advisory to its citizens for traveling to India and has asked its citizens to return from India. Earlier, the country had suspended United Airlines flights, quoting administrative reasons. However, the flights from Delhi to Chicago and Delhi to San Francisco were resumed on April 25/26.   

Country-Wise Travel Restrictions

The countries that have banned or restricted international flights from India are –

  • Canada: Canada has banned flights for 30 days, starting April 23. However, there’s no such ban on cargo flights.
  • Australia: Australia has reduced direct flights to Sydney and Melbourne by 30%.
  • Iran: It has banned travelers from April 26.
  • Kuwait: It has banned travelers from April 24.
  • UAE: Except for Cargo flights, all flights have been banned. Exceptions include business travelers flying on chartered flights, UAE citizens, official delegations, and diplomatic missions.
  • Hong Kong: All flights are suspended by the country from 20 April to 2 May.
  • Bangladesh: While the entry of Indians has been restricted by Dhaka since April 14, the country has extended the restriction till May 9 (effective April 26). Cargo movement is allowed.
  • Oman: Entry of Indians is banned in Oman (effective April 24) till further notice. The only travelers who are allowed are Oman citizens, diplomats, and health care workers. They will have to carry the negative RT-PCR report on departure and will have to undergo quarantine on arrival.
  • Italy: Indians aren’t allowed to travel unless they are residents of Italy. Even in that case, they will have to carry a negative RT-PCR test.
  • Germany: Effective from April 26, entry into Germany is restricted with certain exceptions that include citizens and PRs of Germany, cargo flights, people traveling for humanitarian causes, and transiting people staying at the airport.
  • New Zealand: It has barred all flights till further notice.
  • Bahrain: Effective from April 27, flights will only carry passengers with a negative RT-PCR test conducted 48 hours prior to the flight’s departure.
  • Qatar: Effective from April 25, passengers traveling to Qatar will need to carry a negative RT-PCR test conducted 72 hours prior to the flight’s departure.
  • Singapore: The country has barred all long-term pass holders and short-term visitors who have traveled to India in the past 14 days from entry or transit via Singapore from April 24.
  • UK: While all the flights have been suspended till April 30, all UK and Irish people coming back from different countries will have to undergo mandatory hotel quarantine of 10 days.
  • Indonesia: The country has passed orders wherein they won’t issue VISAs to foreigners who have been to India in the past 14 days.
  • France: Apart from carrying the negative RT-PCR test, travelers from India will have to undergo the mandatory antigen test on arrival.
  • Maldives: Maldives Ministry of Tourism has suspended tourists traveling from India to uninhabited islands. However, the islands which are far from the local population are still open for Indians.
