The second wave of COVID-19 undoubtedly increased the severity of the current situation, wreaking havoc in India. Observing the adverse conditions across the globe, the government of India and the state government have imposed strict COVID-19 restrictions for both international and interstate passengers. So, if you are planning to fly to India from USA, you just need to go through the India COVID travel restrictions prior to departure. We have chalked out the mandatory protocols laid by the government authorities after the India travel ban got a bit relaxed. RT-PCR Test Reports

  • Asymptomatic passengers who are travelling to India from USA in connecting flights will be spared from the institutional quarantine at the transit city. This is only possible if they are having a negative RT-PCR test report that was conducted within 96 hrs prior to their departure.
  • The people who are travelling on direct international flights are not required to show RT-PCR test reports. RT-PCR test is also not required for passengers who don’t want exemption from institutional quarantine.
  • It is obligatory for all passengers arriving in India to submit a self-declaration form on the website- https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration, at least 72 hours before their departure date.
  • Asymptomatic passengers and the ones’ travelling under exceptional situations like pregnancy, death in the family, serious illness, and parents accompanied by children of the age of 10 years or below will be exempted from institutional quarantine. But, it is made sure that undergo a mandatory 14 days of home quarantine. 
  • Asymptomatic passengers can seek exemption from institutional quarantine by showing a negative RT-PCR test report on arrival from USA. This test should have been conducted 96 hours prior to the departure.

  • Passengers travelling from USA to India should have the Aarogya Setu App downloaded on their mobile phones.
  • It’s requisite for all passengers including children and infants to present a self-health declaration form on Air Suvidha Portal.
  • All passengers including children and infants need to upload the latest negative RT-PCR reports on Air Suvidha Portal. The test should be taken within 72 hours before departure.
  • It’s mandatory for all passengers including children and infants to submit an online declaration with respect to the legitimacy of the RT-PCR report and to abide by the decision of the government to undergo home quarantine/ self-health monitoring for 14 days or as warranted.
  • Passengers can only seek exemptions from the RT-PCR in case of death in the family. The application must be applied online at least 72 hours prior to the departure on the Air Suvidha Portal.
  • It’s important for all the passengers to present online SDF/RT-PCR exemption approval to the health authorities upon arrival.
  • All customers including children and infants should carry digital or physical copies of the acknowledgement of their self-health declaration form submitted on the Air Suvidha Portal along with their RT-PCR report. If they fail to do so, they will be denied boarding the flight at the origin station.
  • Furthermore, all customers including children and infants originating from United Kingdom, South Africa or Brazil shall cling to below as well.
  • If the passenger’s journey ends at the first port of entry into India, they need to undergo a molecular test upon arrival at their own cost. Then, they will have to undergo home quarantine/self-health monitoring and wait for test results.
  • If the passenger has an onward connection, he will have to wait for the RT-PCR test results. Onward journey is permitted only if the test result is negative.
  • Customers arriving into Punjab and Chandigarh from any country are required to undergo RT-PCR test on arrival at their own cost.

DELHI

Quarantine Requirements

PUNJAB

  • It is important to register on the COVA Punjab app. It will be checked for each passenger.

UTTAR PRADESH

Quarantine Requirements

  • International passengers will have to quarantine themselves for 7 days at government-designated hotels, following the restrictions on travel from India to USA.
  • Domestic passengers who are asymptomatic will have to quarantine themselves for 14 days at their homes.

Airport Obligation

  • Thermal screening will be conducted for all passengers, as per the India COVID guidelines.

JAMMU & KASHMIR

Quarantine Requirements

  • According to the India travel restrictions, passengers will have to quarantine themselves for 14 days at government-designated hotels. 
  • There will be no home quarantine for the Defense Personnel.
  • The state inhabitants are required to go through a Swab test. After completing this process, they need to home quarantine themselves if the test results are negative.

  • Coronavirus tests will be conducted at the airport.
  • Post COVID test, passengers will remain in Institutional quarantine until negative test results.
  • After getting the negative test result passengers will be kept in-home quarantine.

MADHYA PRADESH

Quarantine Requirements

  • If the passenger is symptomatic on arrival and tests COVID positive, he will have to be in institutional quarantine for 10 days, until the report tests negative.
  • Passengers will have to quarantine themselves at home for 7 days, as advised by the government.

  • Health profiling and thermal screening on arrival from Canada.

CHANDIGARH

  • Passengers need to quarantine themselves for 14 days after arrival.

ASSAM

Quarantine Requirements

  • The current COVID restrictions on India travel ban state that passengers will have to be in institutional quarantine for 7 days at government-allocated hotels.
    • Children below 10 years
    • Pregnant women
    • The elderly person above 75 years
    • An immediate relative of hospitalized patients

CHHATTISGARH

  • Home quarantine for 14 days for the passengers arriving in Chattisgarh, as per the COVID-19 India travel restrictions.

  • It is important to note that thermal screening will be conducted for every passenger.

JHARKHAND

Quarantine Requirements

  • Passengers need to quarantine themselves at home for 7 days.
    • Government of India officials that are on official duty. 
    • Passengers who are moving through the state during interstate movement. 
    • People who have to return within 72 hours from their arrival into the state of Jharkhand. 
    • Passengers who undertake daily interstate travel for purpose of industrial, agriculture or health care activities.

  • Thermal screening will be conducted for all passengers, Post-arrival.

ODISHA

Quarantine Requirements

  • Passengers who will not be carrying their RT-PCR/RAT negative report or vaccination final certificate will be subject to mandatory home/paid institutional quarantine. 

WEST BENGAL

Quarantine Requirements

  • Post arrival, the passengers who are asymptomatic need to self-monitor their health for 14 days.
  • People who are on official duty and has tested COVID-19 negative will be allowed to perform the duty & return without cladding any restrictions.

GOA

Quarantine Requirements

  • Asymptomatic passengers will be spared of quarantine restrictions.

GUJARAT

Quarantine Requirements

  • Asymptomatic passengers, who are arriving at Rajkot, Surat, and Ahmedabad, are exempted from quarantine restrictions, as per the India COVID restrictions.
  • Symptomatic passengers will have to do the RT-PCR test at their own cost upon arrival.

Airport Obligations

  • Thermal screening will be conducted for all the passengers, arriving in Gujarat.

RAJASTHAN

Quarantine Requirements

  • Asymptomatic passengers will have to be in-home quarantine for 14 days, as per the travel to India from USA latest news. 
  • Symptomatic passengers will have to go through a COVID test. If the test turns out to be positive, they will be isolated at the nearest health centre, as per the India COVID restrictions. 

Airport Obligations

  • Passengers should mandatorily submit a Self-Health Declaration Form and stand for the screening process.
  • Udaipur passengers will have to upload a copy of their RT-PCR negative report on http://emitra.rajasthan.gov.in. 

MUMBAI

Quarantine Requirements

  • Passengers who are asymptomatic will have to quarantine themselves at home for 7 days.
  • Asymptomatic passengers who are willing to stay in Maharashtra for a period of 7 days or less will be exempted from mandatory quarantine guidelines.

Further, to get exemption from home quarantine on travel to India from USA COVID, it is important to give an online request at the government website- https://portal.mcgm.gov.in, before your travel.

  • Thermal screening will be conducted for all passengers at the Mumbai airport.
  • Passengers must not forget to carry the RT-PCR report not earlier than 72 hours prior to the scheduled landing time, as stated by the COVID-19 India travel restrictions. And, the people who are fully vaccinated with the two doses and have completed 15 days from receipt of 2nd dose should carry the documents.

TELANGANA

Quarantine Requirements

  • Asymptomatic passengers must self-monitor their health conditions for at least 14 days, following India travel ban restrictions.

  • Thermal screening is to be done for all the passengers.

KARNATAKA

Quarantine Requirements

  • The asymptomatic passengers will have to self-monitor themselves for at least 14 days, after the arrival.

  • Thermal screening will be held for all passengers.

KERALA

Quarantine Requirements

  • It’s mandatory that asymptomatic passengers should show their e-pass to the health department at the airport on their travel to India from USA. After this, they will have to be in-home quarantine for 14 days.
  • Passengers who are coming to Kerala for less than 7 days are spared of home quarantine rules. But, this is only possible if they get an entry pass for a short visit from the Jagratha portal- jagratha[dot]kerala[dot]nic[dot]in.
  • As per the travel restrictions from USA to India, it is important to obtain an e-pass for the passengers travelling to Tamil Nadu or any other state depending upon their final destination. The travellers will be denied entry at the state border if not carrying the e-pass.

  • The thermal screening will be done for all passengers landing in Kerela. 

MADHYA PRADESH

Quarantine Requirements

  • Asymptomatic passengers will have to be in-home quarantine for at least 7 days. 

Airport Obligation

  • Health profiling and thermal screening are mandatory on arrival.
  • Symptomatic passengers will have to undergo a COVID test and be in institutional quarantine till the test results are out.
